Collaboration and Productivity in Information Systems Research

The implications of Martin Beckmann's (1988) model of information costs for research collaborations in the field of information systems are investigated. Some of the differences between collaborative research in information systemsand in related areas are explored. Production functions are empirically derived for information systems research, and underlying mechanisms are suggested that could direct management structure, participation, and conduct for research.
